Christianity is a monotheistic religion. Its foundation is the New Testament accounts of the teaching and life of Jesus of Nazareth.
Followers of Christianity believe Jesus of Nazareth (aka Jesus Christ) was the Messiah of prophesy from the ancient Hebrew scriptures.
The word Christ comes from the Greek word Khristos which means “the anointed one”.
Christianity spread from the Mediterranean first to the rest of Europe during the Middle Ages and then throughout the world during the Age of Exploration. It played a major role in shaping Western Civilization.
The Sacred Heart of Christ statue (shown above left) is located on the shore of the Ganga on Kashi Ashram.
