Plum Village is a monastery, meditation community, and peace center in Southwestern France and the songs, chants and poetry in this CD come from Plum Village. Founded in 1982 by Thich Nhat Hanh, Plum Village is home to more than eighty Zen monks and nuns.

Thich Nhat Hanh is a Zen master in the Vietnamese tradition, scholar, poet and peace activist, and he was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize by Martin Luther King, Jr., in 1967. Sister Chan Khong is a Zen Buddhist nun and social worker. In 1964, she joined Thich Nhat Hanh in founding the School for Youth of Social Service, now an organization of more than 10,000 young people who have organized medical, educational and agricultural facilities in rural Vietnam and rebuilt villages destroyed by war.

Thich Nhat Hanh says that his heart "is cooled by drops of emptiness." He and Sister Chan Khong, with the Monks and Nuns of Plum Village, give the gifts of meditative poetry, chanting and solace to all listeners of this CD.
