Interfaith Religious Statues
Ma’s India offers you a cornucopia of statues from several religious paths. These sculptures of holy people, mythological gods and goddesses, legendary figures, and symbols come in a variety of sizes, styles, and materials. It can be challenging to select just one statue of your favorite representation of the divine, for each model is of quality materials, carefully chosen by our experienced staff.
In India a statue of a god or goddess is called a murti. There they use such figures as tools to help focus the mind in meditation. The Sanskrit word tratak means using a visual technique to improve concentration. To do tratak meditation first you sit comfortably, then partly close your eyes while you gaze at the murti intensely. Now begin to notice and name all the details you see on your statue: “I see two hands, one facing up, one pointing toward the earth.” Next close your eyes and visualize the statue in your mind. Begin to concentrate on the deeper or symbolic meaning of the statue’s attributes. You will be surprised how swiftly the minutes pass when you meditate in this fashion.
Ma’s India is proud to present statues that will assist your meditations as well as add a spiritual note to your décor. Come wander through our catalog of interfaith offerings.
